Cattie Adhesives – Polyurethane Adhesive – 3D Lamination Adhesives

With over 40 years of experience in the adhesives business – Cattie Adhesives is a trusted leader in the manufacturing and distribution of bulk industrial Polyurethane adhesives.

Cattie Adhesives offers a wide range of 3D Lamination Adhesives 1 and 2 part polyurethane dispersions for most applications in the production of 3D furniture fronts.

PU dispersion adhesives are commonly used in the lamination of 3D furniture fronts. The high initial strength, allows for fast trimming of  parts soon after the press is opened. The application technology for  PU dispersions  is mostly applied in fully automated spraying and drying processes.

3D Lamination Adhesives:

  • 1 & 2 Part Water based polyurethane dispersion adhesives (PUD).

  • Flammable & Non-Flammable Solvent based adhesives.

  • Full range of PU dispersions for all 3D lamination applications.

  • High heat and moisture resistant PUD adhesives.

Below are some of our most common types of Polyurethane Adhesive for 3D Lamination:

# 7-859

7-859 is a two-part water-borne polyurethane dispersion adhesive for membrane pressing or vacuum forming Vinyl and PVC foils to particle board in the manufacture of kitchen cabinet doors, furniture components and other 3D laminating applications.  It is used in conjunction with Hardener 7-560 to provide increased Bond strength, heat and water resistance.  This is a workhorse product that has a large window of operation.

# 7-866

7-866 is a two-part water-borne polyurethane adhesive for membrane pressing or vacuum forming high gloss Vinyl and PVC foils to particle board in the manufacture of kitchen cabinet doors, furniture components and other 3D laminating applications. It is used in conjunction with Hardener 7-560 to provide increased heat and water resistance.

# 7-883WH

7-883WH is a one-part water-borne polyurethane adhesive for membrane pressing or vacuum forming Vinyl and PVC foils to particle board in the manufacture of kitchen cabinet doors, furniture components and other 3D laminating applications.

# 7-560 – Hardener

7-560 Hardener is an Isocyanate cross-linking agent used to increase water resistance, heat resistance and bond strength. It is used in conjunction with water-borne polyurethane dispersions such as   # 7-859  and  # 7-866.

# 7-1001 – Hardener

7-1001 Hardener is an Aliphatic polyurethane cross-linking agent designed for hard to bond substrates including PS Foam, Cedar, Plastics; used to increase water resistance, heat resistance and bond strength. It is used at 5% mix in ratio in conjunction with water-borne polyurethane dispersions such as   # 7-859  and  # 7-866.

•Water dispersible, Water and heat resistant.

•Long pot life (> 8 hrs).

•Non – yellowing.

•Works with PUDs and other WB systems.

•Excellent adhesion to tough substrates.

PU dispersions for the 3D lamination of furniture fronts

One-component polyurethane dispersions provide a wide range of benefits:

  • Mixing errors are prevented with 1-component adhesives, providing a major advantage compared to 2-component systems.
  • Simple procurement and warehousing, no more cleaning of mixing units, and no concerns with adhesive pot life.

Adhesives for 3D Lamination

When it comes to laminating 3D surfaces, adhesives play a crucial role in achieving a long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing result. 3D lamination is the process of wrapping a substrate, such as MDF or particleboard, with a thermoplastic film using heat and vacuum. The resulting product is often used in furniture, kitchen cabinets, store fixtures, and other decorative applications.

To ensure a successful 3D lamination process, it’s important to choose the right adhesive for your specific application. Factors to consider include the type of substrate, the desired level of bond strength, and the processing conditions such as temperature and pressure.

Cattie Adhesives offers a wide range of adhesives for 3D lamination applications. Our products are designed to provide excellent bond strength, heat resistance, and compatibility with a variety of substrates. Some of our most popular 3D lamination adhesives include:

  • PUR hot melt adhesives: These adhesives are ideal for bonding PVC and other thermoplastic films to MDF, particleboard, and other substrates. They offer excellent heat resistance and durability, making them suitable for high-temperature applications.
  • EVA hot melt adhesives: These adhesives provide a strong bond between thermoplastic films and substrates such as MDF, particleboard, and plywood. They are easy to apply and offer good heat resistance.
  • Water-based adhesives: These adhesives are a good choice for environmentally conscious manufacturers. They are VOC-free and offer good adhesion to a variety of substrates, including MDF, particleboard, and plywood.

At Cattie Adhesives, we understand that every 3D lamination application is unique. That’s why we offer customized adhesive solutions to meet your specific needs. Our team of experts can work with you to develop an adhesive that provides the bond strength, heat resistance, and other properties required for your application.
